Christmas time 🎄, we wish you love, warmth and happiness

Help us choose your favourite design!

So, we are in the midst of designing the actual app. There are so many options to choose from it’s mind boggling. Do we want to be mainstream, do we want to diversify, do we want to attract a specific generation? It is truly a fascinating journey.

As we definitely do not possess all the knowledge and insights what the market wants, we thought “you know what, let’s ask our most valuable experts!“. That means you! Would you be so kind to click below link, select one design you like and press submit. It would mean the world to us. 🤩

Fully anonymous of course, only if you want to leave your name.

Christmas caring

Most of us love Christmas. Spending time with loved ones, having a nice dinner and maybe even some presents under the Christmas tree. What if you could extend that love and use Christmas to contribute to the world.

We made a list of some ideas and tips to make it easier:

  1. Quality presents: when buying gifts, think less but better. Put time into picking a quality item that will last, and be loved, for a long time. This reduces the chances of gifts going to waste and will ensure that your gift lasts for many years to come. This could also be better for your wallet by purchasing one quality gift, rather than lots of cheaper, disposable or poor-quality items.

  2. Adopt a tree or animal: how cool would it be to adopt a tiger! And in doing so, making sure the tiger has a future on this planet. And what about sponsoring all those initiatives locally that are striving for finding a better balance with nature. You can adopt a tree and receive the harvest when ready.
For adopting an animal, check WWF: https://support.wwf.org.uk/adopt-an-animal. If you are more into adopting nature itself, check out: Nieuwe Bodem.

  3. Think about materials: look at the materials gifts are made from and keep sustainability in mind. Ensure any wood, card, bamboo or paper gifts are made from 100% recycled or Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified materials. Avoid single-use plastic items (especially glitter) that can’t be recycled, and look for things like Fairtrade or Organic-certified food and clothing. Buying second-hand items saves on resources needed to make new products, helping to reduce emissions and create a more sustainable future. Vintage clothes, books, home furnishings, and refurbished technology can all make great sustainable gifts.

  4. Volunteering at Christmas: being there for someone else at Christmas can make a life lasting memory and impact. Thought about it but never took the step? There are many ways how you can start. Check out some of the starting points below:
    - NL voor elkaar, vrijwilliger met kerst
    - Leger des Heils: wordt vrijwilliger

  5. Donate your toys: Not all families can afford to buy presents or toys for their children. Especially around Christmas time, a generous gesture is appreciated even more. And imagine how happy the kids will be when they receive a present suddenly. Donating can be done through the Speelgoedbank.
As far as we are aware there is no central website, but you can follow this Google maps link to find one near you: Speelgoedbank locations.
